Your blog will help a lot of people get through this and not panic when their throats match yours. Keeping track of dosage and times for medication is GREAT! Glad you two got out for a little while. May the rest of the remaining days go very quickly! PS Your nurse is very cute! Judy
After years of sore throats, difficulty breathing, and general discomfort, several docs advised me to have my tonsils removed, and my XXL uvula trimmed. Get my throat oysters shucked, so to speak. The docs warned me that adult tonsillectomy is nothing like a kid's tonsillectomy. Bigger tonsils, more nerve ending = bigger holes, more pain.
They were right.
In fact it's some of the worst pain I've ever experienced (including broken bones and other kinds of surgery)... But breathing is important, so it's worth it... and I'm finding ways to cope with it that might help other poor Shuckers going through the same thing. Here's the story, as it happens.
Expected pain level progression:
Day 1 -3: mild to moderate pain
Day 4 - 9: moderate to exteme pain
Day 10-14: extreme pain shifts to moderate pain
Day 14 - 20: mild pain
